EDITORIAL

Welcome to the first edition of my class magazine. It has been a pleasure putting up this issue together. It was a pleasure shifting through the various articles. This magazine is a reflection of the students of class 8B, who have been eager in submitting articles, poems, stories and drawings.
While going through all the articles submitted by my fellow students it has been an eye opener and a learning experience for me. While putting everything together I have even realised the effort taken by my principal, teachers and the staff members for summarizing all the events of the year into the magazine. I whole heartedly applaud the effort taken by them. This is a small effort done by me to project my class ideas in the best way possible and if given a chance I would love to contribute my efforts in the school magazine which is a reflection of ‘Greenlawns High School’. I thank my class teacher for giving me this work. I have enjoyed every moment of this work.

THE POSITION OF THE WOMEN IN INDIA

The Society that has worshipped womanhood as “Shakti”- the Divine Force of Universe, and has declared the woman is ‘Mother’ the Goddess on earth. In ancient time women were honoured, respected, given equal opportunities in every sphere. Women were allowed to attend the ‘Panchayat’, holy rituals and even grand ‘Swayamwar’. In ancient days women had great importance.
Later on slowly and gradually women’s importance started declining, her movements were restricted, her rights were encroached, her freedom curtailed and she started losing her respect honour and her importance in the society. She now started to becoming burden to her father due to Dowry, burden to her in-laws once her husband died and hence ‘Sati’ practice started. And this went on for many centuries till British rule came in and spread western education and social activist like Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar etc., perused British Raj to abolish Sati Practice, child marriages, dowry etc. Now women started enjoying more freedom.
Today no women is restricted in four walls, she now have free to choose her profession and do whatever she likes, she has entered every field, science , commerce Art etc. . She is now entered the parliament of India currently The President of India is a woman. Now they are enjoying equal status. So men should learn to respect and support women in every aspect of life.

REVOLUTION

‘Changes are a part of life.’ This statement is very true, for changes take place now and then, and play a very important role in the lives of people. Changes should be far good, but, the change that our country, India is facing is turning into a disaster! The number of illiterate people is growing larger and the population has reached beyond seven billion. The walls of corruption are growing thicker day by day. There is poverty and lack of job opportunities. Waste is thrown here and there just like it is a bin! Some policemen even take bribes as a way to earn money as they get very less wages. Is this the future we are heading for? If all this will continue, it will be impossible for all us to live.
What we need is a revolution, a change for the betterment of India. The illiterate should be educated and the masses of people should be made aware of the problems India is facing. The government should try to encourage poor people to study and to work so that they can earn money. Corruption should be controlled. Bribery should be banned! People should be taught that love and respect are more important than money. This all is going to be a very slow process but it is hoped to bring about a change .The youth of India should join hands and now to try to do their bit of improving India as we are the future of this country.

MOTHER AND SON

In a small village lived a mother and a son. The mother had only one eye due to which the children at the school used to taunt the son. One day out of rage he told his mother to die, so that he could escape the embarrassment. Mother did not reply but sobbed the whole night. The son who felt a bit regretful now decided that he would grow up, work hard and become a very successful man and leave his mother.
His mother knowing this helped him by selling of her jewellery to pay his fees, but did not tell him anything. As time went by the boy worked hard, became a successful man, started his own family, left his mother and lived in a huge bungalow and did not think of his mother’s kindness. One day the mother came to visit her son, but he acted indifferent and she left with a tear in her eye.
Few years later for his school reunion he went to his village and he even went to his old home which was now in a very bad state and their he saw his mother dead with a note in her hand .The note said: “Dear son, I am happy that you have come to our old home .I am sorry I was an embarrassment for you, but when you were young you had lost one of your eyes in an accident and I could not are to see you grow up with only one eye ,so I gave you mine. I wanted to see you happy and successful. I am sorry if I was a shame to you .I love you son. Your mother.”
The whole world crashed on upon the son has he realised what he had done as it was he who was one eyed and not his mother whom he had lost forever.

MY HOBBY

Hobby is a kind of useful work one takes up voluntarily, during one’s spare time, without expecting any monetary benefit. It may not be a routine or regular work, but attended when one feels happy to do it. It gives simple pleasure and absolute satisfaction to the person who attends it.
There may be many kinds of hobbies, such as painting, singing, dancing, photography, reading, writing, stamp collecting, gardening, helping neediest etc. Hobby depends on one’s personal taste and inclination of the mind.
My hobby is gardening, which takes me to the mysterious realm of nature. Wordsworth says that Nature does not betray one who loves it. Human life is closely associated with nature. We live, breathe and die with nature. It provides us air, water, food and what not for sustenance.
In our house, we have a little garden. It was so long neglected by the gardener. Recently, I have begun to take interest in it. I went to the market with our gardener and purchased number of flowering plants for our garden.
During the last monsoon, they were planted accordingly to the instructions of the Nursery, from where the plants were bought. The typical manure, prepared by them, was used by us within 3 months or so, beautiful flowers of varied colours and kind have bloomed all over the garden, giving it a fresh look. These flowering plants have added beauty and glamour to the views and life of our home.
During my leisurely hours, I spend my time and energy in my little garden, which breaks the monotony of my daily routine life and provides stimulant to a better way of living. Thus my hobby repays me.

GLOBAL WARMING

The world faces serious threats from ‘Global warming’ .Many cities villages farms and forests experience the impact of climate change in different ways. Human existence is in danger of disorder and destruction .We hears the term greenhouse gas many times, but what does it mean? We add various gases to the earth’s atmospheres every day. These gases consist of CO2, CFCs, N2O and methane which tend to warm the earth. Trees help in stopping the green house effect by taking in CO2 during photosynthesis and giving out oxygen, which is important for human and animal survival.
Scientists have predicted that the daily addition of green house gases to the atmosphere will raise the earth’s average temperature by several degrees. Global warming is a serious problem and to prevent the harmful effects of global warming we can follow these simple steps:
•Plant more trees.
•Recycle the products which you buy.
•Stop using plastic.
•Not using vehicles for short distances.
•Try and use eco-friendly products.
If everybody follows these simple steps it will make a great change in our environment.

The age from thirteen to eighteen,

परिक्षा का भय

'भय' एक ऐसा भाव है, जो एक व्यक्ति के लिए भयानकता कि स्थिती उत्पन्न करता है । एक व्यक्ति को जिस स्थिति से हय लगता है, जरुरी नहीं कि उस स्थिति से दुसरे लोगों को भय लगे । की व्यकिओं को पहाड़ों कि ऊंचाई, किसी को पानॉई कि गहराईयों से, तो किसीक को अंधेरे से भय लगता है। भय मानव मन कि वह कल्पना है जिसे मनुष्य स्वयं बनाता है।
अनेक लोगों को परिक्षा का भय सताता है । यह ऐसा भय होता है जिससे अच्छे अचछों के छक्के छूट जातें हैं। जिन छात्रों ने महेनत कि होती है, उनको भीऔर जिन्होंने नहीं कि होती है उन्को भीसमान रुप से भय लगता है । इनमें ऐसे छात्रो की भी गिनती होती है जो पीले चहेरों और कांपती टांगों को लिए इधर-उधर घूमते नज़र आतें हैं ।परिक्षा का भय छात्रों के माता-पिता को भी आतंकित कर देता है। कई माता-पिता बच्चों की परिक्षा के लिए दफ्तर से छुट्टी तक ले लेतें हैं । परिक्षा का भय छात्रों से उनका स्वास्थय, छीन लेता है । परिक्षा के भय से सारे छात्र पुरा दिन अपनी किताब लिए फिरते रहेतें हैं। वे परिक्षा के समय बहुत परेशान हो जातें हैं। परिक्षा और उस के परीणाम के भय ने कई छात्रों को मोत की नींद में सुला दिया है।
ईन सब का कारण हमारी शिक्षा पर्णाली है, जिसने छात्रों के अंदर परिक्षा और उच्च परिणामों का भय उत्पन्न कर दिया है । ईस लिए विद्यार्थिओं को चाहिए कि वह परिक्षा को उच्च अंक प्राप्ति का लक्ष्य नहीं अपितु ज्ञान प्राप्ति का लक्ष्य बनाएं।

खेलों का मह्त्व

खेलों का जिवन में बहोत बड़ा महत्व है । खेल उतने हि आव्श्यक हैं , जितनी पढ़ाई। पढ़ाई के लिए हमें स्वस्थ मस्तिष्क चाहिए। स्वस्थ मस्तिष्क स्वस्थ देह में ही निवास करता है । देह को स्वस्थ रखने के ल्लिए खेल-कूद जरुरी है।
खेल समय कि बर्बादी नहीं किंतु एक अच्छा व्यायाम है। खेल से देह कसता है, हमारा हाज़मा दुरस्त रहेता है और वह हमें बिमारियों से दूर रखता है। खेल से बढ़्नेवाले बच्चों का शारिरीक विकास तेजि सेव होता है, हमे चुस्ती और स्फुर्ति प्राप्त होती है, आलस्य दूर भागता है और कोई भी मुश्किल कार्य आसानी से किया जा सकता है।
खेल अच्छे मनोरंजन देता है, खेलनेवाले और देखनेवाले दोनों को! हॉकी, क्रिकेट और फुट्बाल जैसे कई खेल खेले जातेंहै जिसे देखने कई दर्शक आते हैं।यह खिलाडीओं का उत्साह बढ़ा देता है और खेल देखने से मन को आनंद और शांति मिलती है।
अनुशासन और परिक्षम का खिलाड़ीयों के जिवन में बड़ा महतव होता है। खेलों से अनुशसन में रहेना का प्रशिक्षण मिलता है, कोई भी खेल नियन - अनुशासन को द्यान में रख कर ही खेला जाता है । हमें हवा कि भांती निरंतर आगे बढ़्ना चाहिए - हमे खेल कुद से आगे बढ़्ने कि प्रेरणा मिलती है ।जो खिलाडी अपनी गलतिओंको सुधार कर आगे बढ़्ता है वही महान खिलाडी बन सकता है।खेल -कूद हमें लड़ने और सघर्ष करने कि प्रेरणा देतें हैं। जो व्यक्ति संघर्ष कर के आगे बढ़्ने के आदि हैं वे किशी भी कठीन परिस्थितीओं को सरलता से पार कर सह्तें है।खेलों से खिलाडी को जित और हार दोनो को ही अपनाने की सहन शक्ति प्राप्त होती है। खेल हमे औरों के और करिब लातें हैं, और एकता कि टीम वर्क कि भावना हर खेलाड़ी की मन में जागॄत होती है।

खेलकूद से हमें जिवन का उददेश मिलता है । खेल कूद को शिक्षा का एक महत्वपुर्ण अम्ग मान कर इसे अनिवार्य विषय के रुप में पाठ्यक्रम में सामील किया जाना चाहिए।

૧. જ્યારે કોઈ પુરુષ પોતાની પત્ની માટે ગાડીનો દરવાજો ખોલે ત્યારે સમજવાનું કે ગાડી નવી છે કાં તો પત્ની નવી છે.
૨. સફળતા રીલેટિવ છે, જ્યારે તમને મળે છે ત્યારે તમારાં ઘણાં બધાં રીલેટિવો પેદા થાય છે.
૩. હું ઑફિસમાં દરરોજ મોડો આવું છું પણ એને સરભર કરવા માટે દરરોજ વહેલો નીકળી જાઉં છું.
૪. આપણો સ્વભાવ આમેય અળવીતરો છે. ઘરમાં આપણને હૉટેલ જેવી સગવડતા જોઈએ અને
હૉટેલમાં ઘર જેવી.
૫. સમય બચાવવાની ઘણી તરકીબો હોય છે. જેમ કે, આજે જે હોમવર્ક કરવું જ જોઈએ એ હોમવર્ક તમે કાલ પર ઠેલો, તો આજે કેટલો બધો સમય બચી જશે !
૬. ફરિયાદ કરવા જેવું કશું ન હોય, ત્યારે પણ તમે ફરિયાદ જ કરતા રહી શકતા હો તો જાણજો કે તમે લોકશાહીમાં વસો છો.
૭. ડિસ્કોની વ્યાખ્યા : ડિફેકટિવ ઈન્સ્ટ્રુમેન્ટ સપ્લાઈંગ કંપનીના વાજિંત્રમાંથી જે કઢંગા સૂરો નીકળે એનું નામ ડિસ્કો સંગીત.
૮. જગતમાં માત્ર બે જ વ્યક્તિ મૂર્ખ છે. એક નિંદા કરનારી અને બીજી, રસપૂર્વક નિંદા સાંભળનારી !
